that first paragraph helps me feel so much better about how much time i’m spending in preparation for this game. my first two solo games i used the FitD engine as a driver (with modifications), but this one is completely loner. in the first two games it didn't matter that my settings were sketches. but now i feel the need to, like…accumulate/generate a lot more…i guess fictional richness in the world? before the first scene. i'm enjoying it a lot, but i didn't expect it to move this way. (apologies if i don't get a chance to thoroughly comment on yr open beta before you publish, haha). thanks for this.

also i love the files concept, and will definitely check some of them out as you continue to release them.

Thanks so much! Interesting that your first two solos were FitD-based. Loner is a pretty different beast, so I'm curious to hear how it feels once you've played more. And yes, more Files are on the way!

loner is what first got pen to paper, for me, but that swerved so fast and hard that it became something that wasn't a game, before even playing the first scene.

then i got the ridiculous idea of playing an entire crew of thieves as an “origin story” for a character i wanted to play. that was pretty straight FitD with a bunch of homemade spark tables + dice drop maps. i loved the dice pools & the game loop. so my second was kinda tags plus dice pools. still very mission oriented. they were both a blast, but were also very much about the grind (appropriate for the protagonists).

i was originally going to mess around with a cyberpunk-ish shadow protocol game, next. but your open beta inspired me to work with a different character i've been thinking about, and this will be much more about character & world immersion. or i should say has been, even in all of this prep. anyway thank you for reading this book, lol. and thanks for all the stuff you make, it's all very inspiring!

"Ha, I'll read the book every time! Seriously though, the fact that Loner got the pen moving at all, even sideways, is everything. And now going deep on character & world immersion? That's exactly the space Loner loves to live in. Can't wait to hear how it goes!"

Does this fall under "Geared Toward Loner" or is it completely apart from that?

This sounds very intriguing.
